June 2, 2002 - Atlantic City to Brielle NJ - Halfway to New York
We left Atlantic City for Brielle at 7:30 am, which is half way between Atlantic City and New York. We had and uneventful trip except that when we were almost to the Inlet to Brielle, we heard the Coast Guard notifying all boaters that the inlet was closed to allow boaters in a race to line up to get the race started. It was a real mess, as there were many sport fisherman boats and all kinds of other boats swarming around the area waiting to get into the Inlet. It also was pretty rough, as the wind had picked up again, so we had to be real careful. The race was a group of "Go Fast" boats. It didn't last long and soon we were all headed into the inlet. It was kind of like our harbor is after a July 4th Fireworks.
Catherine and Bill saw about 25 dolphins while I was trying to nap a bit. Always fun and exciting. If the weather stays nice, we will head to New York tomorrow. It will really be nice to get back into fresh water, as this salt water makes a real mess of everything and is so hard on the boat.
