Part 12 - Montreal,Rideau Canal, Boldt Castle, Lift Locks at Peterbourgh and Kirkfield
Beautiful Notre Dame Church in Montreal.
Boldt Castle on Heart Island in the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River. I have a copy of the plans to build a castle like this for Wendy after this trip is over.
Rendezvous found a new home along side the Boldt Castle Yacht House.
Joanne and Wendy manning their stations going up the 8 step locks in Ottawa.
Opening the Locks the old fashioned way just like they did a hundred years ago. Things never change on the Rideau Canal.
Friends we met at our mooring in Smith Falls.
New boat owner. His first experience in the Locks. What a way to get started.
Rendezvous packed into the locks like sardines. It's amazing how carefully they bring in all the boats without any accidents. So far, so good!!!!!
Entering the Peterbourgh Lift Lock which is the highest lift lock in the world - 65 feet.
At the top of the Lift Lock looking back down the Trent - Severn Waterway.
At the highest point on the Trent - Severn Waterway, we are headed down at the Kirkfield Lift Lock to Georgian Bay with 10 more locks to go.
Rendezvous on the edge looking out to our destination - some 49 feet below! And Wendy didn't even look scared.
