April 17, 2002 - Visiting the Duncan's "winter home" in Sea Island, Georgia
We stayed at the Duncan's home, which is absolutely lovely. It is on a very pretty lot surrounded by lots of mature trees and overlooks a canal, which is quite a sight and very peaceful and quiet. I didn't know it but the live oak tree is different from our oak trees in that it is evergreen, so it is green all year long. The next day they took us to St. Simons Island and we had lunch together, and then Bill and I boarded the trolley for the historic tour of the Island - there is a lot of history here. We drove all over Sea Island the next day to see all the beauty of the homes, golf courses and the Cloisters and the Sea Island Club and Beach Club. A couple of mornings we joined Mary Lou for her water exercise class at the Beach Club nearby. What a sight - this pretty outdoor pool right next to the Atlantic Ocean. I really can't describe it. So So beautiful. We are so happy that we had the opportunity to be a part of it. We had dinners at several wonderful restaurants, and had a great time visiting and catching up. I think the Duncans will head home in early May. We were shown real southern hospitality and it was so fun to be together. Thanks again, Mary Lou and Chas. - We love you. We are headed for Savannah next, then to Hilton Head and on to Sea Brook Island, where we will meet up with Amy, Jim, Baby James and Ruth Cobb. Needless to say, we are looking forward to that. Stay tuned.
