October 15 - 16, 2001 - St. Louis, St. Charles, and Kimmswick Mo.
We slept in and had a big breakfast of bacon and eggs before Bev and Tom packed up to go home. We rented an Enterprise car and they picked us up around noon. We drove to the St. Louis Airport where Bev and Tom rented a Hertz car and started their drive back to St. Joe. We said a sad good-bye and they were on their way. We decided to drive to St. Charles as we had heard that it is a very cute town with lots of neat shops. Well, we drove all over trying to find the right area, and when we did it had started to rain hard again. We had a bite of lunch and decided to start back to the boat as it was so miserable.
We stopped at Target to get some warm gloves and a few needed items, and tried to find our way back to Kimmswick and Hoppie's Marina, which took quite some time as it was dark and was raining torrents. We rented a DVD and came home, turned on the furnace and made popcorn and settled in for the night.
Tuesday was sunny and clear, but VERY cold. We went to get groceries and returned the car. We tried to get on the Internet, but didn't succeed, so we went up town to pick up a few more patriot items and look around. I guess we bought the town out of red, white and blue pins and scarves. Had another delicious lunch a The Blue Owl and started planning our anchorages for the next few days, as there aren't any Marinas for a couple hundred miles. This should be VERY interesting. Stay tuned.
