June 3, 2002 - Brielle NJ to New York City
After making a lot of necessary phone calls and taking care of some business things, we decided to start out for New York. Catherine did a great job of charting the course and we left about 10:00. It was a beautiful day and the Ocean was pretty calm, so we were delighted. It was nice for me to have Catherine here as she and her Dad worked out the details and kept track of where we were on the charts. I napped and read a book, which I haven't been able to do very often. We were surprised that the New York Harbor wasn't busier with commercial traffic. However, there many many ferry boats going everywhere. We couldn't believe it when we looked up and saw the Statue of Liberty right out in front of us - what a sight to see. Needless to say, it was a great photo opportunity. We arrived at the Lincoln Harbor Yacht Club about 3:00 and started getting organized and settled in for our stay in New York. Actually our marina is in New Jersey and we will take a ferry across to the city. The ferry is right next-door.
