April 25, 2002 - Hilton Head to Beaufort, S.C.
TO BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA AND ON TO JOHNS ISLAND NEAR SEABROOK
We left Hilton Head late morning because we had a phone line and spent all morning loading STUFF on our computer. We were headed to Beaufort 28 miles away. Beaufort is a very quaint little town right near the harbor, so we walked around town and had a little dinner. The next day we took a horse drawn carriage ride around to see the historic sites which was very enjoyable. There were many old lovely southern homes, well preserved. The marina had a courtesy car that we could use for an hour so we did some grocery shopping, which was helpful as there weren't any stores nearby. The Blue Angels were practicing for an air show on Saturday and were flying right above the boat - what a sight. Bill rode his bike somewhere so that he could get a good view of the show, and I stayed in town - took a nap and went to town to get a basket of goodies made up for Ruth Cobb. Saturday night we walked to town, as there was a concert in the park. Fun.
