October 20, 2001 - Big E Marina Pudacah, Ky.
We figured out that we need a new bearing for the generator, so we called the distributor, and of course, they are not open on Saturday. Soooooo-I guess, we'll stick around until Monday and order the parts --- what else can we do? We're really on a tight schedule, --ha, ha! We went to breakfast with Sherman Jones, the marina owner, who owns a steel fabricating company, besides the marina. He's quite a historian of civil war days and the town of Paducah. We found him very interesting and a lot of fun. Then we went up town to explore, and we discovered that the Delta Queen, which we passed, going down the Illinois River, had returned to Paducah to pick up passengers to return to New Orleans. (One sad note that we found in the paper today was that the owners of the Delta Queen had filed for chapter 11 . We since heard that it might be its last trip.) Bill took a million pictures of the Delta Queen departing. If he can figure out how to put them on the web page, now that Tom isn't here, you'll probably see them. We walked through the many antique shops downtown and found it to be a delightful town. We went to a movie, The Deep End, which was a winner of the Sun Dance Film Festival. It was very thought provoking. If it ever comes to the Three Oaks Theater, go see it. Home to the boat to grill a little steak and watch a little T.V.
