August 4 - 6, 2002 - Heading home, Frankfort, Pentwater, and Grand Haven
Last night we stopped at Northport as it was getting late and Leland said they were rafting boats. We met some people on an older Chris Craft, 1662, a 55 foot one, and had lots to talk about, of course. We did the home and home tour and the boats are similar but not exactly the same. It was very nice and they are doing a nice job with it. They are from Traverse City and their boats name is Amara. Dr. Betsy and Roy and their friends were cruising together.
Sunday, the 4th we cruised to Frankfort and ordered a pizza and did laundry and Bill tried to get stuff loaded onto the computer, but couldn't get a local number, so didn't have any luck, so I don't know when we'll be able to get it on there. Maybe after we get home.
We thought the winds and waves might keep us in Frankfort for a day, but they weren't supposed to build until later on Monday, so decided to try to get to Pentwater. The winds have shifted around to the North, so we have a following sea and hopefully we'll get there before they get big. I figure if we get to Pentwater today we still have about 100 miles to go to reach good ole' St. Joe. Everyone says that the re-entry will be tough, but we are anxious and can't wait to see all of you.
Well, Good news!!!! We arrived in Pentwater about 2:30, so in the next few days we should be able to get home!!!!!
P.S. Tuesday, August 6th, we left Pentwater for Grand Haven about 10:30 am. We left a little later in order to let the seas die down a bit. The trip was glorious, with a following sea and a very comfortable ride. Arrived in Grand Haven about 3:00 and will travel to St. Joe. tomorrow, weather permitting, of course. Can't wait. It promises to be a great cruising day and that will make for a great end to a great trip. See you soon.
