March 14, 2002 - The journey continues
We left our winter home in Ft. Myers at 8:00 a.m. The water was calm, and after the morning fog lifted, the sun came out and we headed for the Gulf and on to Naples. It was an uneventful trip and it took us about 2 hours to get to Ft. Myers Beach and then it was 21 miles in the Gulf to get to Gordon Pass at Naples. I'm still shocked at the speed that the passing boats think they have to go. They are uncouth to say the least. Suzy came to the boat at 2:00 and we went to the store to get stuff for dinner and Bill washed the boat. Suzy and Joe will join us for dinner. Then Lynn and Dick Ward called and are coming down to visit also. I'd better continue this as one never knows what will develop next.
Later -- we had a fun visit with Lynn and Dick. They couldn't stay for dinner, so Suzy, Joe, and Bill and I had a little dinner and were just hanging around the boat when John and Carol Benning came by the boat. John grew up in Benton Harbor, and we haven't seen him in years. Turns out they have a winter home very near Rosie and Dick and they got us together one night - they are very fun and it's fun to catch up with people from the past. The Naples City Dock is a quite busy spot to say the least, but fun. Friday, Suzy and her Mom came down to see us, and we had a bite of lunch and walked up to the shops nearby. Iris looks great as always, and Suzy is so cute too - always dressed "way cool". Later we met Suzy, Joe, the Heths, and Susie and Tom Horton (from Naples) for happy hour, a visit and a little dinner. A fun time.
