October 29, 2001 - Paris to Cuba (in one day by boat)
We left Paris Landing at 9:00 on a sunny, clear, CALM, day - what a relief not to have that nasty wind. AND, the blue aft canvas curtains are all rolled up - the first time since we left Chicago. Hope we never have to use them again. Kentucky Lake and the Tennessee River is sure different looking from the Ohio. There are many beautiful coves with still water. They probably make for some good anchorages, but I'd still prefer to be tied to SOMETHING. Tomorrow and the next night we'll have to anchor out, as there aren't any more marinas deep enough for us until we get to Florence Alabama. Our houseboat friends, Al, Lynne, Bob and JoAnn told us come nice safe places, so we'll look for those. It's always nice to have insider information about water depth and safe harbors. We have an hour until we get to Cuba Landing, in Waverly Tenn. - we'll arrive at 2:00.It's been an uneventful trip except there are a lot of fishermen in small boats today to watch out for, and several "diver down" flags, indicating divers are diving for mussels. Wish one of those fishermen would offer us some fish so we could try Gene and Nancy Heths favorite recipe with the cherries.
