April 28 - May 4, 2002 - Beaufort to Bohichet Marina, Seabrook Island, S.C..
Sunday we left Beaufort and headed to Johns Island and the Bohicket Marina where we met up with Amy, Jim, Baby James and Ruth Cobb (Jim's mother). Ruth has a lovely beach home on Sea Brook Island about 10 minutes from the Marina. Sunday night they all came to the boat and had dinner together at one of the delightful restaurants right at the marina. I wasn't feeling well so I didn't think I should hold or touch James, which was VERY hard. The next morning I felt so punk that Ruth took me to a nearby clinic, where they told me that INDEED I did have Bronchitis and that I would be contagious for at least another day, which nearly killed me. But with the help of antibiotics and cough medicine, I finally did get better. I couldn't wait to hold and play with Baby James, who is 14 months now and is walking and is SO SO precious. We stayed at Ruth's home that is VERY close to the beach and we walked down several times to let James play in the sand. He loved it. Bill and Jim played a couple rounds of golf and Bill was pleased with his game. It must have been all the practice he had this winter with John Chiviges and his buddies in Florida. We took a drive around to see some of the Plantations, and the Angel Oak Tree, which has a limb-spread of 151 feet and a circumference of 10 feet and is known to bed one of the largest of its kind in existence. It is estimated to be more than 1400 years old. James liked to climb on its low limbs and it, of course, was a great photo opt for Grandma and Grandpa.
Seabrook was a beautiful, quiet spot and we loved the relaxing time we had there. Thanks Ruth for your southern hospitality.
